Acquiring a PMP Certification demands devotion, hence making it worthwhile. Once you possess relevant project management skills, the strenuous journey is already behind you. Prior to applying, verify whether you meet any of the subsequent sets of requirements to be entitled to the esteemed PMP Certification. These are:

SET #1

  • Four-Year Degree
  • 36 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years
  • 35 hours of project management education

SET #2

  • High School Diploma or Associates Degree
  • 60 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years
  • 35 hours of project management education

3 STEPS TO APPLY FOR THE PMP EXAM

1.     Confirm You’re Eligible

Your eligibility is based on a combination of your academic background, work experience, and completion of supplementary project management courses. Here are the conditions that must be met if you hold a 4-year degree (Bachelor’s degree), a high school diploma, or its equivalent.

AUDIT

Candidates can be selected at random for an eligibility audit.

If chosen for audit, it will be necessary to provide the following to confirm your eligibility:

  • Copy of Degree
  • Verification of Experience signed by supervisor
  • Certificate or Proof of 35 hours of project management training

PMP EXAM DETAILS

PMP Examination Information

The PMP examination is comprised of 180 questions. Of the 180 questions, 5 are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions do not affect the score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to test the validity of future examination questions. All questions are randomly placed throughout the examination.

The allotted time to complete the center-based examination is 230 minutes.

For the PMP exam, there are now two 10-minute breaks in the exam. The first will appear after you complete questions 1- 60 and review all of your answers. The second break will appear after you have completed question 120 and confirmed that you have reviewed all of your answers. Please note, once you review your responses and start your break you will not be able to return to the questions from the previous section of the exam.

When you are signed back in after each break, you will have the remaining allotted time to complete the remaining section(s). In total, you will have 230 minutes to respond to 180 questions. The examination is preceded by a tutorial and followed by a survey, both of which are optional, and take 5-15 minutes to complete. The time used to complete the tutorial and survey is not included in the examination time of 230 minutes.
